What is Straw?

  • Straw is an agricultural byproduct of growing grain and is left after the grain has been separated from it.  It is used for lots of different things including bedding down livestock e.g horses, ponies, cattle etc.  It also has a low feed value and is often fed to cattle.  It also has industrial uses including strawboard, fuel and installation.  It comes in various sized bales which can be stored either inside or outside, although it is preferable to keep it dry.
